AARP Global Network: The collective power of experience
For decades, governments, nongovernmental organizations and private
institutions have been working within their national borders to
meet the needs of the dynamic and rapidly growing age 50+ population
segment. As countries, particularly in the developed world, face the
largest numbers in history of baby boomers reaching retirement age,
governments are challenged in their commitment to meet the needs of
their aging populations. Therefore, nongovernmental organizations and
private institutions are increasingly playing a larger role in responding
to this group’s social and lifestyle needs.
Furthermore, the baby boomers, whether in Europe, Asia or North America,
are more discerning and demanding than their parents’ generation about
their needs, wants and desires. Older people have both the wisdom and
the experience to make the world better for all our citizens. Through
the AARP Global Network, our member organizations are better able to
deliver positive social change, meet the needs and interests of the
large and dynamic populations they serve and respond to market gaps
for high-quality products and services.
In 2007, the Network’s members grew to four: AARP, DaneAge, CARP and
Italy’s 50&Più Fenacom. These organizations are leaders with dedication
and an active role in serving their nation’s 50+ population. They joined
the AARP Global Network to harness the collective power, resources,
and experiences of their counterparts to more effectively serve their
members and their nations.
