  • The 2012 mileage rate for reimbursement is 55.5 cents per mile. Many of you are aware of the impact of this high rate of reimbursement on the program's budget, especially with our 20% reduced 2012 IRS grant funding.

To balance the 2012 budget, we ask for your help. You can do this in a couple of ways:

    1. When using mileage for reimbursement, please consider taking a lesser amount than you are due by subtracting a dollar amount from the total due to you or by choosing a rate lower than 55.5 cents; or,

    2. Donate part of your reimbursement back to AARP Foundation Tax-Aide. Going forward, donations from volunteers will be used to offset the rising cost of the overall program and cannot be directed to a specific state's donated funds.

To those many volunteers who didn't submit for reimbursement, submitted for flat rate, or have taken less than owed in the past, that is very much appreciated. We ask that you please consider doing the same in 2012.

Your support helps us maintain needed service well into the future.
